John 1:1-5
Jesus is God incarnate (John 10:30) who stepped down from heaven, humbling Himself, to teach us, lead us, and to ultimately WILLINGLY die for our sins so that, if we choose to receive Him and His sacrifice, we can be reconciled to the Father (Hebrews 2:9-10). He is God in the flesh (John 8:58), who lived a sinless life, died on the cross as an atonement for our sins, was buried, and rose again after 3 days (John 10:17-18). He now sits with the Father until the day of His return, and He will return (Hebrews 1:3). He is one of the triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit): the beloved Son, God’s glory (2nd Cor 4:5), the Righteous One (Psalm 11:7), the Rock (Deuteronomy 32:4), the Chief Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:19-20), the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), Savior (1 John 2:2), King of kings (Rev 19:16), Lord of Lords (Rev 19:16), the Alpha (Rev 1:8), the Omega (Rev 1:8), love itself (1 Jn 4:8).
“I and the Father are one” (John 10:30)
“But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.” (Hebrews 2:9-10)
“’Very truly I tell you,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’” (John 8:58)
“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father” (John 10:17-18)
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven” (Hebrews 1:3)
“For God, who said, “let light shine out of darkness”, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:5)
“For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright” (Psalm 11:7)
“He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and Upright is He” (Deuteronomy 32:4)
“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone” (Ephesians 2:19-20)
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be on his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)
“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2)
“On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written, “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelations 19:16)
“’I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty’” (Revelations 1:8)
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:8).
